boudoir

I wanted to be completely free with this shoot.. with light, my processing, film, digital.. and of course with Lauren.  We wanted to keep it simple.. I didn't want it too posed.. too shiny.. too dressed up.  I wanted to show real.. because to me real is so beautiful..

This is Boudoir to me...

I want to say a huge thank you to Jodie for the beautiful hair and make-up and Lauren for being amazing and trusting me.. they are two wonderful ladies and I adore working with them.  There is also a part two to this shoot to come...

  1. I know I left this comment on the instagram you shared, but now I've seen the whole session, I feel even more emotional about it.

This session is truly beautiful, real, raw and so sensual. You've weaved magic and created a boudoir session that looks like real life... subtle make up, no fancy underwear... Almost like her husband had captured her one Sunday morning. (This is a compliment on how natural they are, obvs you're a professional! and not anyone can create photos like these)

I so wish I had photos like this of me at this kinda age, before my body changed with age and babies. I'd love to have these memories of me as a young women, not from a vain sense you must know, but just as I think it's important to have reminders of who we are at all stages of our lives. These don't have to be photos you put on display. I would've so loved to have an album tucked away with these kinda memories, much like I look back at my maternity photos. Lauren is very fortunate to have these, I just know in twenty years she will treasure this chapter in her womanhood.

I hope this encourages your brides to do this and celebrate their beauty as a woman.

Perhaps before I turn 40 this time next year, I may call on your services, because even though I don't have the body of 25 year old anymore, I do know I'll be different in 20 years...

Bravo Emma for pushing the real yet again x.

  11. I am insanely proud of you Em and I feel incredibly privileged that you asked me to take part in this wonderful shoot.

Believe it or not I'm actually a very private person so 'exposing' myself in this arena was both daunting and liberating all at the same time. Your integrity, warmth and creativity shines through all of these images just like it did on the day of the shoot. You've captured what I think is the essence of me behind closed doors - just how Xanthe has described in her comment above and I'm in love with each and every one of the images regardless of how egotistical that sounds.

A million times thank you, you gorgeous woman; I'm thrilled to call you one of my friends.
